The beginnings of production at FIDELIO Healthcare date back to 1967: in Frankfurt am Main, the owners of the US group Purdue Pharma founded Mundipharma GmbH. The company quickly established itself and made significant acquisitions between 1970 and 1974, such as Chemisch-Pharmazeutische Fabrik Krugmann GmbH and Pharmazeutische Fabrik Dr. med. Hans Voigt GmbH.
In 1975 the company moved to Limburg an der Lahn to the Dietkircher Höhe industrial estate. A distinctive feature of the site is the specially constructed company building, which was designed in 1973 by renowned Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer and is now a listed building.
On 1 October 2018, FIDELIO Healthcare took over the production facilities and the associated business operations of Mundipharma in Limburg an der Lahn. With a clear commitment to the location and the promise of quality "Made in Germany", FIDELIO Healthcare focused from the outset on a successful growth strategy, thus establishing itself as a strong partner for pharmaceutical and healthcare customers worldwide.
The development of the company site started with the main building, including production, offices and laboratories, and a separately located power plant. The main building was constructed in 1973 based on a design by Marcel Breuer. At the client's request, the concept was modeled on St. John's Abbey Church in Minnesota from 1961, also by Marcel Breuer. The building is classified by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Hesse as a "work of an internationally renowned architect of the Bauhaus school that is significant far beyond the region".
The plan to add a storage facility was already conceived in 1974 and finally implemented in 1983. This was followed in 1993 by a canteen and the first administration building.
