The development of the company site started with the main building, including production, offices and laboratories, and a separately located power plant. The main building was constructed in 1973 based on a design by Marcel Breuer. At the client's request, the concept was modeled on St. John's Abbey Church in Minnesota from 1961, also by Marcel Breuer. The building is classified by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Hesse as a "work of an internationally renowned architect of the Bauhaus school that is significant far beyond the region".
The plan to add a storage facility was already conceived in 1974 and finally implemented in 1983. This was followed in 1993 by a canteen and the first administration building.
